About Us

Roseau Evangelical Covenant Church exists ...

to share the love and hope of Jesus in today's world.

We believe...

...the charge to God’s people throughout Scripture has always been to represent Him to the non-believing world so that people would come to know Him and be in relationship with Him – a relationship made possible solely through the sacrifice of Jesus on the cross. So we seek to share with those who do not know God.

What do we share?

Well … we’re not perfect … not even close. But we are a people who have been changed by God’s perfect love and we want to share ourselves and our story of how God’s love has impacted our lives.

It is God’s love that brings hope

– a hope that there is purpose and meaning in life beyond the daily grind. A hope that comes only from our Creator who deeply desires to restore relationship that has been broken by sin. It is His invitation that brings restoration. It is His restoration that brings a secure hope … both for our present and our future.

It’s not just any brand of love and hope we are called to share. It is the love and hope of Jesus. He is the author of love. His love is not simply a casual, powerless word … nor is it defined by the latest trend. “This is real love – not that we loved God, but that he loved us and sent his Son as a sacrifice to take away our sins.” (1 John 4:10, New Living Translation)

We try to share our lives and our stories in the context of our current culture … using today’s words and images to best communicate this amazing love and hope.

That’s our mission … our purpose … what we are to be doing as His people.

If you were to take a survey and ask people to define “the Church,” it’s quite possible that many would respond by naming a place … a building … a structure ... a service. Or perhaps it would be the judgmental stereotype that, sadly, has all too often been demonstrated. But neither of those definitions fit the Biblical meaning of the word. The Church is God’s people doing God’s mission. God has defined His mission for us. But to be the Church, we must be God’s people. One way to describe God’s people can be summed up by these four words … these four values that we feel are important to be God’s people.

Exalt ... Expand ... Equip ... Express

What does this mean? It means that we desire to be a people who …

Exalt God …

by loving Him, worshiping Him alone and by being devoted to Him and His Word

Expand God's Kingdom …

by continuing Jesus’ mission to seek and save the lost and by loving our neighbor

Equip God's People …

through serving opportunities, discipleship, Christian Formation and Spiritual disciplines for all age groups

Express God's Compassion …

by tangibly caring for those in need – especially the poor, the needy, the widows and the orphans – those who cannot advocate for themselves

Our community of faith is not perfect … but we are devoted to living out God’s mission as His people the best we are able … extending grace and forgiveness just as they have been given to us by our Savior, Jesus.

We invite you to join us in living out God’s mission ...

to share the love and hope of Jesus in today's world.
